XPS 13,I7, SSD 256GB purchased 2016

Is anyone having problems with streaming video and audio? My paltry iPad can stream the videos without a flaw. Why can't my latest generation Dell XPS 13 stream the video with getting choppy audio and video at regular intervals? The XPS 13 was twice as much as my iPad.

I am not a troll. I'm a Dell employee that has purchased this laptop via the employee purchase program.

No sound from speakers but headphones work!

Hi any advice here would be helpful.

I have a Inspiron 15 5555 laptop which was purchased in March this year. Everything was running okay on it apart from the Graphics card which kept crashing but thats a whole different story. my issue is with the sound. a few days ago i turned my laptop on and it told me i had a device plugged in and was highlighting the headphones. Now i can't get sound from the speakers.

i've plugged in and unplugged the headphones and nothing will happen. I ran a diagnostic F12 test and i could heard the bleeps from the speakers. I've uninstalled drivers and reinstalled them. Updated all windows 10 updates and windows diagnosis but still nothing so now i'm at my wits end.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

If I use the keyboard shortcuts to turn up or down the volume, it decreases by 4%. With my previous laptop (HP), it only decreased by 2%. Is there any way for me to customize how much it lowers or raises the volume per keyboard press? Thank you.

Hi.I am getting a continuous static sound from the speakers and through the  headphone. The volume control does not change the volume of the static and when the vol slider is set to 0  the static goes away.

there is no sound when playing any audio file.

I have tried the following.

Reinstalled sound drivers, run Dell diagnostic tests , and windows troubleshooter all with no problems found. Any thought on this ... thanks.

Inspiron 15b7000 series; audio plays but ALWAYS turns itself down??????

I bought my laptop 2 weeks ago. I have been having these issues since day 1. every time I got to play a video or listen to music the audio will most of the time start out normal and as loud as it should be, but it seems as If, when it picks up noise around me, the sound starts to get lower and lower gradually until I cant hear it anymore. and at this point the sound is not completely off but in order to even hear it I would have to put the speaker directly to my ear and even then I can barely hear it. I'm really really disappointed especially since talking to the person who sold me this computer was sure that it would run perfectly, even better than my old mac. I have never had these issues with any other laptop, this is very frustrating. I cant even use my headphones because for some reason it just wont play! it even detects them in the headphone jack  and everything and yes, ive been able to use the headphones once or twice and heard sound but it took a lot of restarting and messing around which I simply don't have time for. I have messed around time after time with the audio setting trying to figure this out and have of course restarted my computer time after time and the problem still persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated

E6520 audio control panel

I have a E6520 laptop and the audio works ok but I have no audio control panel. meaning one that has an equalizer and sound enhancer/effects.

I have searched the net over and over and tried many drivers but nothing. I can only control the volume and balance with the windows small panel, the one with the speaker icon in tray.

Is there suppose to be a control audio panel for this laptop.

I have owned this for 3 years and need a control/equalizer panel for certain projects in music cd burning.

Please let me know what should be installed in this puter. In manager.devices all I have is High Def audio device. Cant seem to see what type of audio card is in here. I used speccy and get the same High Def audio device.

Noticed some drivers I try ti install will not work.

thanks

M6800 - help from owners needed

Hello Dell Comunity,

I'm looking for someone owning Precision M6800 without a webcam.

I have a question - does your system have internal microphone? I had my laptop repaired recently by dell - they replaced motherboard and chassis and now I think I'm missing microphone functionality. I haven't used it much and can't remember if it was there in the first place but now with win10 and cortana it would be handy to have it.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

A few months ago I started to hear a vibrating sound on my Dell XPS15 9530, so, once I had time, I decided to open it and I noticed that a damper (a rubber "pillow" between the speaker screw and the laptop structure) is missing. Can someone tell me where I can find a replace or tell me who I can contact, please?

Dell XPS 15 L502X - Upgraded to Windows 10 - Lost Headphone Utility that Asks What was Plugged-In

$

I have a Dell XPS 15 L502X - Upgraded to Windows 10 (64). I  seem to have lost the headphone utility that asks what was Plugged-In when you plug in the headphone. This model has the Sound Blaster X-FI MB Sound Card that supports 5.1 audio. There are 3-jacks. Originally, when plugging something in to those jacks it would ask you if you are plugging in a headphone, Left Front Speaker, Center Front Speaker, Right Front Speaker, Rear Right Speaker, Left Front Speaker, or Subwoofer. It was working until I performed a 5th Windows 10 Reset of the laptop. Now, when I plug in something it never asks me. It seems I've lost the ability to choose what is plugged in, my headphone, or the three plugs from my 5.1 speakers.

Any help is greatly appreciated to get this lost utility or program back. Thanks in advance.

Issues with Music Production (Inspiron 5567)

I got a brand new Inspiron 5567 (i7-7500, 8GB RAM) which I thought would handle music production like a breeze but I was shocked that the laptop is having issues with that.

Basically when I'm working on the music I hear pops and clicks (which usually happen when the buffer size is low for less latency) but the buffer size I'm using proved to be irrelevant to the pops and clicks.

I tried disabling the wifi adapter, changing throttling settings in BIOS, deep uninstalling antivirus software, I even fresh installed Windows 10 again and I still get the same problem. Mind you, the music software I'm using is the lightest ever (only 40MB).

The problem is definitely rooted in the PC itself. I downloaded Latency Monitor which measures the computer's ability to handle audio and the results are always way higher than the norm making it conclude that the machine is not suitable for music production!

Also, I tried with an audio interface (M-Audio 2x2) and without (using only built-in audio), same same.

Anybody has insights to what might be causing this or should I just give up and sell it?

I have kinda noticed for a while that my speakers will make static noises every so often, and is now affecting my headphones. I have already checked for software updates on Device Manager for my sound system and everything is updated.

Not really sure where else I would need to look for an update or reset.

I have a Dell Inspirion 13- 7000 series- Windows 10- Intel i7

Thanks for any help!

Random Static Interference

Every now and then, more common recently, the audio on my XPS 13 will experience a lot of static. It is usually simple to fix: restarting the browser/restarting my laptop. However, this only ever temporarily fixes the problem. I don't know what is causing this nor how to fix it, any ideas?

Jittering sound, Video playback lagging, audio and video cutting up.

Alright, I have spend about 3 years trying to resolve this problem and I have done so much research that I felt it would be a waste for me not to post something about it.

After I owned two Dell laptops, the XPS13 and Alienware 17. Both having the same problems. I tried everything, I read through all of the forums and I tried everytthing these forums have suggested and at multiple occasions I ruined my laptop and had to format it.

I also always had the full warrenty with Dell customer service and have replaced my xps13 TWICE and my Alienware once. This is of course after replacing the motherboard and the hard drive and spending endless hours over the phone with them while they update all my drivers and ensure my software is running correctly. They ran 100's of tests on my computer to see why this is happening and no one could ever solve this problem.

However, after all this research with no solution in sight I thought of the problem logically. My alienware was running 16 gb of ram and 1 TB of HDD regular hard drive. I figured if I have so much ram to run anything I want, maybe it is having the regular hard drive that is not keeping up with the ram. Sure enough, when I went and bought the best SSD out there Samsung Pro 950 256 GB and installed it and used it as my operating system while the HDD ran as my storage. For the first time in 3 years and 4 computers... my pc was running with no jitterz or lagging or any issues!

At the end of the day there was nothing wrong with my hard drive... it was just a matter of design. Dell did not think that having such a huge ram with such a *** hard drive would cause any problems other than slower boot up time ... but eh it's not such a big deal and can be used as a marketing advantage... when in reality it is like having a HUGE HEMI engine with a prius transmission... It is just not good enough.. both powers must match in capabilities.

Thank you for reading this and I really hope this can help you and you won't have to spend endless hours and time trying to fix a problem that essentially doesn't exist with your computer ... just bad engineering...

Headphone Jack Changes Volume Automatically

Hi,

I am using a Latitude 3540 and trying to get a conference phone working through the Headphone port. The phone has a mic and speaker cable that go into an adaptor and then into the headphone port on the laptop. As soon as its connected the volume slowly decreases on its own.

We have tested the same setup but using a Lattitude E6330 and it works fine.

I hve fully updated all drivers.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ubuntu doesn't detect my soundcard on XPS13 9360

Hi!

From one day to the other, sound stopped working...

output of 'lspci | grep audio' is nothing

alsamixer output; 'cannot open mixer: No such file or directory'

I've tried cold rebooting twice, as well as checking the BIOS to see if audio was enabled (it was) and this has not helped.

Thank you.
