Latitude 7470 Headphone Audio Problem

Recently, I used my wireless headphones to listen while viewing a webcast on my laptop (Latitude 7470) and found sound was coming only from the right headphone.  I thought it was an audio problem with the webcast but after the webcast finished the issue persisted.  Using Windows 7 tests and tests found on the internet, I discovered that the left and right audio channels were being merged and delivered only to the right headphone --- no audio coming from the left headphone.  I played with all of the Windows controls I could find and then uninstalled and reinstalled the RealTek sound card driver and nothing changed.  I did a system restore to a date I knew the headphone audio was working properly.  The issue presents itself when plugging into the audio plug on my docking station or directly into the laptop, so I don’t think it could be a bad audio jack.  The issue is also the same when plugging in an Apple earbud set to either jack, all the sound going to the right earplug.  I downloaded and installed the latest updates from Dell for my motherboard and still no change.

I did a lot of searching on the internet and could not find any recommended fixes other than uninstalling and reinstalling the sound card driver and/or doing a system restore to a date when I knew the sound was working properly. As mentioned, neither of those activities eliminated the problem. I even opened up my laptop looking for loose or missing connections but found none.

Built in speakers work normally, left audio to left speaker and right audio to right speaker.  The headphone function was working properly the day before.

Have any of you guys seen this type of behavior before.  Any suggestions as to a remedy?

Dell's Realtek audio driver is broken, need a fix

Inspiron 7737 comes with Realtek audio.  The volume on microphones is not properly set in the driver, with the result that using Skype and the like is not workable.  The Realtek driver supplied on Realtek's site fixes this problem perfectly.  So why am I posting?

The Dell-supplied Realtek driver includes the software that drives a pop-up dialogue.  The dialogue allows you to specify what it is that has been plugged into the audio input socket.  This is necessary because the audio socket in this case is a 4 pin single plug.  Audio out is on by default but audio in (external microphone) is off by default.  Unless you have the pop-up dialogue box working, it is not possible to use a external microphone.

I need to use an external microphone.  The solution is simple.  Find out from Dell how to have that pop-up box functioning (if it comes through an external program).  Or, and this is what I suspect, the modification of the appropriate registry key probably does it.

So this is really a message for a Dell tech.  Please provide a way to activate that dialogue box or a similar method, such as modifying registry keys, etc.

XPS 15 9560 does not recognize headphones

I just got new headphones, and when I plugged them in to my XPS 15, the audio would still only play through the speakers. I assumed that this was because I hadn't updated my computer in a while so I restarted it while the headphones were plugged in and sure enough, they started working. Also after the update, it said that WavesMaxxAudio was removed but I had disabled that for a while.

The problem appeared again when I unplugged my headphones and when I plugged them back in, sound would only come out through the speakers. I tried restarting my computer again but to no avail. It randomly started working again when I was running Dell's 10 minute diagnostic test to figure out what was wrong. Like an idiot however, I accidentally unplugged them and now I'm back to having my headphones plugged in with audio coming through the speakers.

Then I tried updating my BIOS because why not and the headphones started to work again. I took them out since I needed to use them on my phone and again the refuse to work.

Also it's worth noting that whenever my headphones do work, they are not recognized as a separate device, meaning that I can't mark them as a default device.

Is there anyway to fix this? I would really appreciate specific steps. I was thinking about uninstalling the audio drivers but I don't want to end up messing up my audio entirely

Constant "unplugged/plugged device into audio jack"

$

Hi all,

I have had my Dell Inspiron laptop for about 4 years now. The problem started this summer, but I haven't tried to resolve it until now. Randomly while I am working on my computer, in the bottom right hand corner a notification pops up that will say "You just plugged a device into the audio jack" and then a few seconds later it will say "You just unplugged a device into the audio jack" even when I am not inserting anything into the audio jack. This will go on constantly, honestly for 30 minutes at a time and then will randomly stop and start up again out of nowhere. It comes from the Realtek HD audio manager. It is very annoying because if I try to listen to music from the speakers, it will constantly think I am putting headphones in and the sound will cut out for a few seconds then come back on. The only way to resolve it is to actually put in headphones and listen through my headphones.

I need to have this fixed because I am starting to do skype interviews and when this happens, the person cannot hear what I am saying and my voice cuts in and out.

Please someone help me fix this problem, I am desperate!

Thanks,

Lee

BSOD after Dell Updates installs Audio update

Windows 7 x64.  Generic image on Latitude E7470s with up to date BIOS and drivers per Command Update and manually installed drivers.

Recently we've gotten a rash of about 20 systems that as they've been getting updates for Dell drivers their systems crash with BSOD APC_INDEX_MISMATCH multiple times per day.  We've tried removing the currently installed drivers manually and then reinstalling current drivers but it does not seem to fix the issue.  Has anyone else seen this?  I'm pasting the output from our .DMP output in the Debugger. What I'm confused about is the process: audiodg.exe  This is a Windows system file and not part of the Realtech driver.

APC_INDEX_MISMATCH (1)
This is a kernel internal error. The most common reason to see this
bugcheck is when a filesystem or a driver has a mismatched number of
calls to disable and re-enable APCs. The key data item is the
Thread->CombinedApcDisable field. This consists of two separate 16-bit
fields, the SpecialApcDisable and the KernelApcDisable. A negative value
of either indicates that a driver has disabled special or normal APCs
(respectively) without re-enabling them; a positive value indicates that
a driver has enabled special or normal APCs (respectively) too many times.
Arguments:
Arg1: 000000007709bdaa, Address of system call function or worker routine
Arg2: 0000000000000000, Thread->ApcStateIndex
Arg3: 000000000000ffff, (Thread->SpecialApcDisable << 16) | Thread->KernelApcDisable

Inspiron 15 7577 static noises on speakers and delayed notification sounds

$

Hi, Dell Community,

I have some problems with the sound on a Dell Inspiron 15 7577 running Windows 10 Pro Creators Update (with the latest quality updates), all latest drivers installed. The laptop is configured with i7, 16GB, 256 SSD + 1TB, GTX 1060.

First: I have discovered that if I plug in external speakers after I have booted the laptop and if I adjust the volume or play a Youtube video for example, there is a static glitchy sound before the audio starts - as if the sound card is activated. A quieter noise is heard when the audio stops - again, as if the sound card is shut down (to conserve battery?) If I boot the laptop with the speakers plugged in, this doesn't happen, so I believe it's a matter of a software glitch that should be addressed in a future BIOS update. Of course I have tested the speakers separately and they're fine. All of this happens with the laptop plugged in. The issue is resolved if you put the laptop to sleep and then wake it again. Still, it's quite inconvenient.

Second: I have noticed serious lagginess with the notification sounds. If I am playing some music, it seems the notifications are OK and on time. But if no sound is playing the UAC prompts or confirmation prompt sounds play 1-2 seconds after the popup appears or they don't play at all. Taskbar notifications seem to work a bit better. Maybe again it's a matter of keeping the sound card *alive*?

Does anyone have the same problems? I believe these are software bugs that need to be addressed in bios/driver updates. I still think I'll be returning this laptop. This and the video lagginess, introduced by Optimus (link below) are a bit too much of a compromise for a relatively expensive multimedia/gaming machine!

I just got a XPS 9560 and I could not find the Dell HD audio mananger just like in my old Inspiron. Here is the picture:

I checked my XPS audio driver and this is what I saw:

I also tried to install realtek HD audio driver from dell and run the file RtkNGUI64.exe but nothing seems to work. Please help me because I'm used to using this feature for every audio activities and now missing it is really uncomfortable

The audio on my Dell is retarded

$

Hi, I received my new Dell XPS 9560 last thursday, and during the weekend I realized that the audio in my computer is retarde after some seconds without reproducing any sound. Its not happening only in windows alerts (the audio alert comes after 2 or 3 seconds after the visual alert) but also after pausing-playing music, videos (streaming or my own files) and even when I want to volume up or down with the f2 and f3 keys, the visual volume bar in the top-left corner of the screen is popping up 2-3 seconds after I have actually pressed the volume key.

Does anybody know what is going on and how to fix it? I have tried to uninstall the drivers and install again, install the realtek retail drivers, the custom dell drivers, microsoft drivers, I have even clean installed Windows with no success.

I have contacted technical support in my country and since they told me they don't do replacements, I could choose between them sending a tech to repair it or to send it back, I choose repairing it due to my necessity for a laptop kind of urgently. They decided to send a tech with a new motherboard who should have come today, but after talking with the technical support again they told me that he didn't because they had no motherboards in stock right now.

So I have 2 questions right now:

1- Is this issue solved by the motherboard replacement?

2- How can they offer me a repairment that they don't have the pieces for and be so cool with it?

Thanks in advance to anyone spending anytime in this thread.

Best regards

Julio

So I purchased a brand new Inspiron 15 7567 i7 128 GB SSD with the 1 TB HDD and 16 GB RAM, and have made sure all drivers and the bio are up to date. I've had the drivers analyzed from the dell support website, and have checked for updates as well through cortana as well as updated the sound drivers in device manager just to make sure it was up to date.

My problem is that whenever I plug or unplug the charger while audio from a video, music, or game is playing, it creates a weird distortion/cracking sound that persist for half a second and freezes the screen as if it were lagging for that duration as well. I've tried uninstalling the

Quiet beeping/clicking sound

$

Hello,

I have bought a new Inspiron 15 7570 laptop with Windows 10 Pro.

Since the beginning, it does a quiet beeping/clicking sound. You can hear here (sound in WAV format).

I have turned all the system sound off (or at least I think that, win 10 are new for me).

The sound is not clearly connected with any user action or warning and as far as I observed, it occurs randomly. The average span between these sounds is like 2 minutes.

When I turn the speaker off (no sound), the sound is still present, which means it may not be audio stuff at all.

Can you please help me identify the source of the sound, whether it's normal and how to get rid off it? I work with the laptop quite often and this sound, however quiet, drives me crazy after while.

Hello Everyone,

I purchased this laptop on thanksgiving deal last month. When I play music/video/audio with more than 50% of the volume level of the speakers, the speakers/sub-woopher are  giving crackling sound. it's terrible.

I checked the Realtek for driver updates and it's already updated. I troubleshooted the audio for issues but it doesn't display any problems with speakers/audio.

Any ideas please.

XPS L502X Microphone not working

Hello, Since 2011, I'm using an XPS 15 (L502X) laptop and recently I replaced the LCD for my system.I made the payment of the purchase on 09/10/2017 and the Service Request Number is 951987261.Then on 25th October, the LCD has been replaced and then after the replacement of the LCD, my mic is not working.I used the Dell Webcam central, Windows sound recorder and everything to test and record the sound but every time I find that the Mic isn't recording anything.

So I contacted Dell India (I am from India) and they replaced the mic but even after that, it didn't work. Then again after contacting Dell, They replaced the LCD cable on 24th November and still, the replaced LCD Cable did not resolve the problem.

I am constantly requesting the concerned support team to replace the existing LG LCD again with a Samsung LCD which was built for my system and was using since I purchased the system on 2011 but no one is paying attention to that and telling me that it is not possible for them.

Now in the above circumstances, please help me to resolve this issue.I have tried every single possible solution to solve the problem but I failed every time.

I have some headphones that I bought like 3 months ago, and always that I inserted them in the audio jack it will always pop a notification of Waves asking what I was plugging in. My cousin has installed 360 Total Security so one day I clicked in one option that makes my computer boot up faster so since that day the Pop of Waves that asked me what I was plugging in never appeared (but I still can hear music, videos, etc in my headphones) but in other computers yes, so I don't know what to do. And when I open Waves MaxxAudio Pro and I go to dimension for headphones it tells me that I have to plug some headphones to work but I have some headphones plugged in. In the Image below you can see the pop up I'm talking about, since that day the pup up never appeared again and it sounds different but in other computers no. Help Me Please

Sound problem with Dell Inspiron 3558

Hi-I'm having problems with the sound levels on my laptop. Although I have it set at 100%, in order to hear the sound in a movie, I have to hold it in my lap with the speakers facing up towards me-not good if someone else also wants to watch. I've tried everything that I've found online to fix this problem. A lot of the suggestions say to go to the enhancements tab under speakes, but I don't have an enhancement tab on that page. All I have is General, Levels, Advanced, and Spatial Sound. Does this model not have the enhancemet tab? If not, is there a way to increase the sound level (something not too difficult-I'm not a computer expert). The sound used to be fine, but in the last couple of months, something changed (maybe an automated update or another update?) I use the computer for my job writing and for browsing and watching movies and tv - nothing that would require me to make any changes. Anyway, is anyone has an answer to this problem, thanks in advance.

I am sure this question has been addressed many time but I just want to make sure.

I have upgraded my C drive from SSD drive to NVMe drive; therefore the Image partition(volume 6) is no longer useful.

Essentially, I just need to keep volume 0 (C drive) and volume 4 (boot partition); I can delete all other partitions, is this correct?

Side note - I am using Macrium Reflect v6.3.1849 (UEFI) software to do all my backup.

The following is my C drive's partitions:

Dell Inspiron 13 7370 Sound/hardware issue

$
0
0

Did all the suggested trouble shooting uninstall/reisntal drivers/sound devices etc. Eventually after stressfully dealing with Dell customer service I sent it in for repairs. They replaced the left speaker but when I got the laptop back it still had the sound issues. I

Eventually I  had my laptop replaced with a new one and same distorted sound problems are present in this new replacement  laptop which I received today.

I think I might have discovered what the issue is. my suspicion is that it is a problem with the product line.

It seems that in an attempt to make this line of laptops as thin as possible they shoved too much inside so that the keyboard cover is not fitting snuggly or tight enough and is causing vibration on the left side when audio plays.

I also found that when I apply pressure to the left side near where the Dell sticker is it helps with the vibration and it sounds a little better. Which does me no good because I can't keep my hand there forever. Long story short, I think it is a manufacturing/assembly problem in this product line.

What now?

Is anyone else having this issue? I know of at least one other person who has been having the same problem even after receiving  replacement. So that makes 4 laptops with the same problem.

Dell Inspiron 15 3537-0721 External Mic not being detected

My Dell Inspiron 15 3537-0721 has a single combo jack for both input and ouput audio and Im running Windows 8.1. I have a Turtle Beach Recon 50 Headset with a Microphone. When I plug in the headset the audio immediately switches over the headset and it works perfectly, but it does not even detect the mic input. All it detects is the built in microphone (Which doesnt work btw, Im not sure if this might be related). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the drivers. Ive tried switching between the stock drivers, over to realtek and IDT drivers and then uninstalling everything and reinstalling the stock drivers again. Nothing seems to work, I cant even get the mic to be detected. Please let me know if there is any info Ive left out and I will gladly post it

Alienware 17 R2 No audio through speakers or headphones

My old MSI computer died and I moved the hard drive to my Alienware 17 R2.  Everything seems to run fine after I downloaded the drivers from the Dell website... EXCEPT for the sound.  I get no sound from the speakers or headphones when I plug them in.  I know the sound worked BEFORE I swapped the hard drive.

This is my DJ laptop hard drive, so I can't just reload windows, I need to keep everything.

Any ideas?

Dell Inspiron 7567 using built-in microphone instead of headset microphone

Hi everyone,

So, my computer uses my built-in microphone instead of my headset's (a Razer Kraken Pro - in case this is helpful information) for sound recording and chatting in games. I have followed recommended procedures throughout the web, but none of them seemed to help me in any way. Can someone assist me?

My dell inspiron 7559 laptop will not play any audio through headphones or speakers

I have been trying to look around for a solution however none of them work. On my playback section it says "no audio devices are installed" and i can't change the volume or even get access to the little bar you use to change it. If it helps my computer was recently fixed up and i was thinking that they may have forgotten to reconnect the speaker but that wouldn't explain why headphones don't play any audio either.

Any help is appreciated

XPS 13 9360 Headphone Mic Not Working (MaxxAudio also not working after driver update)

I am unable to use the mic in my headphones with the laptop at the moment. With the headphones plugged in the 9360 just defaults to the inbuilt mic which is terrible.

Ever since a driver update, (I can't remember which), the maxxaudio popup that allows you to choose your mic input stopped appearing and the audio sounds very flat.

I need assistance in this situation as it's dells responsibility with regards to MaxxAudio, as it seems I have no other choice of audio driver.

Inspiron 7567 Choppy/Distorted audio when not plugged in.

Hi everyone, yet another audio issue with my laptop, but might be a simple fix. Whenever my computer is off the plug (in summary, not charging), the audio turns crackly and distorted. The obvious leads me to believe that this might have something to do with power settings, but I tried playing around with mine and nothing seemed to help. Running windows 10.

For some reason the mic keeps reverting back to mute.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek  audio drivers from the Dell support drivers site  Gong:  right click the speaker icon>recording device>highlighting mic>properties>levels>unmute and set to lever to 80.  Should the APPLY button highlight?

Win 7 x64: Realtek Audio Driver Installs but High Definition Audio Driver fails?

Recently upgraded hard drive to an SSD and did a clean-install of Windows 7 using Dell media. Post install, I cannot get the audio working. Device manager shows ...

Bluetooth Audio Driver
High Definition Audio Device (yellow exclamation point)
Realtek High Definition Audio

I have tried the following to fix:

1. Uninstalling and deleting the driver then re-downloading using Dell Detect
2. Installing the RealTek R282 driver from the RealTek site
3. Windows Update does not find the driver
4. Right click on entry in device manager and letting Windows find it
5. Installing it manually from the Dell site

Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Inspiron 7347 touch screen will not disable

Inspiron 7347 13 5000 2 in 1.

Screen is cracked (possibly a design fault), but repair cost is more than computer is worth and crack is bearable if can disable the touch function.

Have used:

WIN+X > Device Manager > Human Input Device > Touch Screen > "disable device" AND "uninstall device"

This will work for roughly 24 hours or less before the screen magically reinstalls itself requires uninstalling again.

Running new Windows 10 (updated 22 Dec 2017). Even did a full reinstall of Windows 10.

This even happens when computer is plugged into an HDMI cable and the screen is not in use.

Very strange.

Any suggestions?

Audio problem inquiry

So I bought my brand new laptop a month ago (Dell Inspiron 15 7000), and since I got it I noticed two things that nagged me big time, first a skip or pop in the sound every so many minutes ( it could be in range of time between 10 to 30 minutes), it could be while listening to  Youtube, Spotify or Netflix. Sometimes I can be very obsessive over some things that  many people just could overlook but since I spend a month salary in this laptop it kind of annoyed me that it wasn't workings as expected, since it was a little pricey for me. Also every time I plug or unplugged the charger the audio made a buzzing sound that really used to get under my skin. After I reviewed some blogs and youtube videos I got a tip on disabling the a system device: DELL DIAG CONTROL DEVICE. After doing it, the problem was solved, no more skipping/popping  in the audio so far, and the buzzing sound after pluggin/unplugging the charger was gone.

My inquiries are : what does the DELL DIAG CONTROL DEVICE is meant for? why disabled it fixed my problem (if what I commented can be take as a problem)? and what could be the downsides of operating my laptop without it?

Thank you in advance for reading my long post, hope to hear some answers.

Dell XPS 15 9060 Waves MaxxAudio not compatible

Hi,

Like a month ago there was a windows 10 update, after it was done it said that Wave Maxxaudio is not compatible.

I downloaded the newer version from Microsoft store, but that is saying "Audio driver is not up the date, please check windows update", but there is no new windows update nor realtek update.

Now when the music is playing through speakers and  plug in headphones, it'll just start playing through headphones without any notification, and i can't change it, + the sound from the headphones sounds horrible.

i tried to reinstal the realtek, i even uninstaled the windows update, but noting is helping.

thanks for any help :)

Bios Update shut down my PC

I received an urgent notification to complete a Bios Update on my Inspirion 3650 PC which I attempted, after which I could not boot up my computer or anything. Spent 2 days trying everything I knew, as computer was running fine never had a problem before this... then decided to use old laptop to get in touch with Dell Support to see what I could do.  WOW is all I can say. I have been a loyal Dell customer for over 15 years, with never a problem I may add. BUT have never had to contact Dell support either. This was just a joke, shoddy and impersonal support, is the best I can say I received. All I did was ask for some help on how I could get my computer to boot up or at the least if I did, could they send me link or info on how to complete the Bios Update that was sent to me...I got nothing to this at all, what I did was get several emails saying my computer was out of warranty and they would be happy to sell me either a 1 or a 4 year warranty....I told them my computer was out of warranty I new it, it was out of warranty 1 week prior to receiving the update notice.  Now I wonder how quaint that is especially after reading all the other complaints to Dell support here. They also keep telling me that I am not responding to their attempts to help me and are going to shut down the request...I have responded to each and every email they sent, plus sent more as I kept hoping they would answer at the least one of my questions, and each time they are impersonal, and do not answer any of my questions at all....its an absolute joke. I will never support Dell again, this experience changed my view on Dell completely.

Bluetooth Audio Dell Studio XPS 1647

I purchased a CSR Dongle added it and bluetooth picks up and finds my bluetooth earbud, and adds it to the devices and printers area as Hotgo-H1. So its listed and found it, so I would assume my bluetooth dongle is working because if found it and added it. So when I right click on the speaker and select playback devices, there is no choice there to select my bluetooth little speaker. So how would I get the computer to list my device so I can make it my default audio output? I have read alot of forums and my driver is says is up to date and is newer than one I tried putting in as I thought I needed a new driver.

XPS 15-9560, Dual U2715H, AC511 soundbar, no sound?

I have a Dell XPS 15-9560 laptop (Win 10 pro). I have it connected to two U2715H monitors using a single USB-C connector from the laptop. The monitors are daisy chained together (using a Dell display port cable) and all works very well. I have just bought a Dell AC511 soundbar as this appears to be the one recommended for the U2715H Monitor. However I cannot get any sound out of the new soundbar.

The soundbar itself is not listed (recognised) anywhere in Windows 10 but both monitors have always been listed under 'Playback Devices' and are both shown as "Dell U2715H (DisplayPort)" under Monitors in Device Manager. When checking under Playback Devices I can still see both listed and I can see the audio level scale bar rising up and down to the beat of music, so there's something there, but no sound is coming out of the soundbar.

Have tried everything I can think of but I've now come to dead end. Any help much appreciated.

XPS 9560 USB audio issue

$

I recently bought the Dell XPS 9560 with Windows 10 Home preinstalled.

Unfortunately I am experiencing an issue while playing music on my USB stereo audio system:

if I pause or stop the playback (aimp3, youtube) for about 30 – 40 seconds, there is a brief cracking noise in the speakers, and then no sound is sent anymore to the USB stereo when I resume the playback, or in Windows if I set it to default stereo system.

My first idea was to set to Disable the USB selective suspend setting, but this was not the cause for the lack of sound.

For the moment the only way to overcome this issue is to disconnect/ reconnect the USB DAC.

My audio setup (Laptop – USB DAC – Amplifier – Speakers) works fine on older laptops with Windows 7, with no sound issues after pausing or stopping media, so I don't know if this issue is caused by a Windows 10 setting, or by Dell XPS 9560 drivers.

How can I have USB audio after I pause or stop media? I have the latest drivers via Dell update software.

Thanks

Andrew
